90% Increase in Oil Storage|SFR Co., Ltd. Obtains Invention Patent for New O-Ring Chain Technology for Motorcycles
To further enhance chain drive systems and meet the needs of medium- and large-displacement motorcycles, Chi Zheng Co., Ltd. has overcome significant technical challenges. After extensive testing and validation, the company invented a drive chain featuring a helical-grooved pin design, for which it has been awarded an invention patent by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
This patented product is designed for long-distance endurance racing. It significantly extends chain lifespan and improves transmission efficiency, providing riders with a more stable and efficient power transfer—key advantages when competing for the podium.
Patent Highlights & Product Advantages
Compared to conventional chains, this patented chain introduces a helical groove pin design that dramatically improves oil storage and reduces friction gaps. This breakthrough effectively extends the chain’s lifespan—especially when used in non-sealed chains—without increasing link torque or power consumption
01. 90% Increase in Oil Storage
The surface of the helical pin features an innovative spiral groove design that regulates lubricant flow, enhances lubrication uniformity, and increases oil storage and adsorption capability—boosting oil retention by 90%.
02. Reduced Lubricant Loss
When under pressure, the lubricant flows preferentially into the spiral grooves between the pin and the bushing, reducing external oil loss and improving lubrication efficiency.
03. 30% Longer Lifespan
As pressure is applied, oil is drawn into the grooves, creating a film that maintains continuous lubrication during chain friction. This reduces surface contact stress and extends the chain’s life by 30% compared to conventional chains of the same model.
04. 50% Longer Maintenance Intervals
For standard non-O-ring chains, the maintenance interval is extended from 500 km to around 800 km—a near twofold increase. For O-ring chains, oil retention performance is enhanced even further.
05. Lower Transmission Noise, Better Riding Experience
The helical groove design reduces the clearance between the pin and bushing, minimizing longitudinal dimensional tolerance. As a result, power is transmitted from the front sprocket to the rear more directly and quickly, with less shock and lower noise, significantly improving the riding experience.
